Running A Zap Zone Event
If you find yourself in the lucky position of getting to run the Zap Zone event, these tips will help ease the learning curve.
Overview
Zap Zone Ann Arbor has a pretty solid framework for fundraising events.
- You choose 2 out of 4 events (Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, VR, Non-Ticket Arcade Games)
- Families can pre-purchase wrist bands for $20 per person at school, which gets them 3 hours of the events you chose.
- ZZ provides pizza, water, and pop (if you want to include pop).
- In the past, 5:30 to 8:30 PM has been a successful time. Mid-January has worked well.

Volunteer Job Descriptions
The Zap Zone event runs without a whole lot of volunteer help, but having a few key positions filled can help immensely.
Greeters
Greeters make sure families know where to go when they arrive. Direct them to either the party room (if they pre-purchased wrist bands) or the front counter (if they need to purchase wrist bands). Two 30-minute shifts to cover the first hour. Pizza Servers The $20 wristband cost includes pizza and drinks. The Pizza Servers are responsible for handing out the pizza. Three 30 minute shifts to cover the first 1.5 hours. |
Check-In Table
Families who pre-purchased wrist bands will come to the front table to pick them up and receive their raffle entry ticket. Check their name off the list, give them their wrist band(s), and explain the raffle. Four 30 minute shifts to cover the first 2 hours. |
